RRO1-scorecard-title_2
The Sustainability Scorecard measures and tracks the adoption of sustainable synthetic alternatives to horseshoe crab blood for safety testing drugs and vaccines. It records the results of a survey sent to the 50 largest pharmaceutical companies in order to track the industry’s transition to synthetic alternatives for safety testing everything from vaccines to popular GLP-1 inhibitors for weight loss and diabetes.

In December 2024, the survey was sent to the companies listed below on the sample Sustainability Scorecard. The survey asks questions about each company’s safety testing methodologies and their plans to transition to synthetic alternatives to horseshoe crab blood. Each question is weighted. The total number of points that a company earns across five categories corresponds to a sustainability rating. The more points, the higher the rating. Learn what the points mean.

Survey results will be available beginning in Spring 2025.
